Residential Treatment Center

We take on the task of treating adolescents with the most challenging psychiatric and behavioral symptoms at our Residential Treatment Center (RTC).

We operate a special program specifically for boys with serious emotional problems. This program features a structured and enriched daily schedule and a high level of professional and clinical support. Children are integrated into the campus community and take advantage of all the services the campus has to offer.  Children must be approved for admission to this program by the Core Service Agency in their home jurisdiction.

“Success... is helping kids heal from their traumas and decide they want to invest themselves in their own lives. I still get calls from kids I worked with 20 years ago. They have a family... and they’re happy to be alive.”
Maggie Vincent-Poehlman, LCPC, Director, Residential Treatment Prog
At any one time, the RTC serves up to 48 boys ages 12 through 18.  Because these young men cannot be treated in other settings, the RTC offers round-the-clock treatment, guidance, and care including:
  • A comprehensive residential program.
  • A self-contained and diagnostic program for males who  have acute symptoms or high-risk behaviors.
  • A program focusing on sexual trauma and sexual aggression or offenses.

Therapy and guidance are constants in each boy’s daily life, with emphasis on healing from past trauma, learning appropriate coping skills, and building character. Average stays range from 10 to 21 months. When boys leave the RTC, they usually return home, enter foster treatment care, or are transitioned to a group home in the community.
