RESIDENTIAL CRISIS SERVICES (RCS)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Short-term intensive mental health and support services for children and adolescents to prevent a psychiatric inpatient admission, to provide an alternative to psychiatric inpatient admission or to shorten the length of inpatient stay.

PROGRAM MODEL/SERVICES:

  • Respite care
  • Emergent residential placement
  • Community-based treatment foster care
  • Crisis intervention
  • Recreational programs
  • Client/family needs assessment
  • Individual treatment plans
  • Case management
  • Medical services
  • Inter-agency service plans
  • Intra-agency referral
  • Educational placement

CLIENTS:

  • Baltimore City residents
  • Up to age 18
  • Be in significant mental health/psychiatric crisis
  • Three client capacity
  • Not be intoxicated at the time of referral.

LENGTH OF STAY:

  • 3-4 Days

LICENSE:

  • Baltimore Mental Health
  • Department of Health and Mental Hygiene

REFERRALS:
Referrals to RCS should be initiated through one of the following agencies:

  • Baltimore Mental Health System
  • Baltimore City Child and Adolescent Response System (B-CARS)
