About Woodbourne
Woodbourne, a private nonprofit organization, has been a refuge for Maryland’s neglected children for more than two centuries. Today, we continue to support and care for children in desperate circumstances with a program mix that is both current and responsive to those we serve.
Our mission, quite simply, is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people and their families. We accomplish this by providing high-quality, safe, and cost-effective mental health and educational services.Children come to us from Baltimore City and every county in Maryland. They quickly realize they are linked to a compassionate chain of adults, who work together to provide an integrated system of care to children and families.
Nearly every child at Woodbourne has experienced some type of trauma: severe addiction of one or both parents, abuse and neglect, witnessing crime, or a family history of mental health problems. Others come to us to receive treatment for juvenile sex offenses or other chronic crimes.
Woodbourne is both a safety net and a safe harbor for children scarred by life’s events. We strive to give children the tools and skills they need to return to their homes and communities.
